ISP :: DSL :: ADSL

ADSL is a form of DSL internet. DSL stands for digital subscriber line: it is a kind of internet technology that allows you to have an internet connection over your normal phone lines in a part of the band that is inaudible (and doesn't affect your ability to make normal calls on the line). DSL has become one of the most popular forms of broadband internet in the world. ADSL, which stands for asymmetric digital subscriber line, is a variant of DSL that allows for faster data transfers in one direction; generally an ADSL connection has a certain upload speed which is limited, and a download speed which is much higher. ADSL is then offered to home subscribers as a way to get the fastest speed downloads for a price comparable to normal DSL. ADSL speed for the download is faster than for the upload, and an ADSL speed test / ADSL speed check can help you confirm the fast download speeds.

ADSL technology and ADSL modems are essentially similar to their DSL cousins. An ADSL modem is often similar to an ADSL router / ADSL broadband router: it is usually a device the plugs into the ordinary phone line and then allows you to connect multiple computers using network cables, or increasingly often wirelessly. As with DSL, you need filters; an ADSL filter removes the signal from other outputs of the same phone line so it won't interfere with your other electronic devices, telephones, etc. ADSL broadband deals are offered from an ADSL broadband ISP, and many internet service providers choose to market ADSL almost exclusively or they offer DSL and ADSL in a multi tier upgrade system. ADSL providers include companies such as Optus ADSL and VGA ADSL, and many internet service providers offering ADSL also allow for ADSL web hosting, allowing you to easily set up your own internet site.

With ADSL it is easy to download the largest files that the internet has to offer, including high resolution streaming video, movies, music and more. While other things such as VOIP (voice over IP) communication and video conferencing can be more difficult, because of the limited upload speed, upload speeds are still closely comparable to ordinary DSL and so you can at least get started using these technologies with ADSL. I wish you the best of luck finding a great deal for ADSL near you and more detailed info on the internet!
